All-Party Committee on Mental Health and Addictions

Mental Health and addiction impacts all of us. In any given year, one in five people will experience a mental illness or addiction. This is an issue that is prevalent throughout our province and country, and one that we must address collectively as a society.

The All-Party Committee on Mental Health and Addictions was established as a result of a private members' motion supported by all members of the House of Assembly on January 21, 2015. The All-Party Committee will review the provincial mental health care system with the goal of improving mental health programs and services to better serve the needs of residents in Newfoundland and Labrador. The The committee reconvened on January 26, 2016 and consists of members from all parties of the House of Assembly, including:

Public Consultations

The All-Party Committee on Mental Health and Addictions is holding province-wide consultations as part of its mandate to review the provincial mental health and addictions system.

The public consultation process will offer multiple opportunities for stakeholders and residents to provide feedback and suggestions to the All-Party Committee, including:

Public Presentation Sessions:

Stakeholders, community groups, individuals and families with lived experience of mental illness and/or addictions can pre-register to make formal or informal 15 or 30-minute presentations to members of the All-Party Committee. While the individual or group presenting will have the full attention of the All-Party Committee, presentations may be observed by members of the public and media.
